How can an employer Protect their Employees based on the Health and Safety

  1. Four things that a companies can do to make sure that employees are safe at work is that they can analyze workstations and assess and reduce risks, plan work so that there are breaks or changes in activity, and they can arrange and pay for eye tests and glasses if they are needed for work.  
  2. A display screen equipment (DSE) assessment is a process to evaluate the ergonomics and safety of a workstation where employees use devices like computers, laptops, or any equipment with a screen. It also includes making sure that an employee's desk is adapted to ensure comfort and productivity. This would include having an adjustable seat, desk space, glasses if needed, etc.  
  3. A healthy work environment ensures that a workplace is free from hazards, weathe that is physical or from its employees. This would be done by making sure that the workplace is clean, and there are no hazards that can hurt someone. It's also about making sure that the employees are happy and protected. This is done by making sure that companies are properly protected, they have a good work life balance, not discriminated against, and that they feel empowered and motivated to work.  
  4. When working with DSE, you can also get health issues if the proper precautions are not followed. For example, if you don’t have a good chair, then you can get multiple back and shoulder pains because of it. Also, if the monitor is too close to the face, it can cause eye strain which may also lead to that person needing glasses because of it.
  5. If you are the employer, you need to make sure that each workstation that an employee might work at is adapted to ensure that they are safe and not at risk of any of the injuries that come with not following the DSE. This will include the employer needing to make sure that the desks have enough space, making sure that the monitors are at a reasonable distance from the face of the worker, and making sure that each person has a chance to take a break during the work day so they are able to change their surroundings.

Global RTS The trip was in the morning on the 28th March 2025, Will and Patrick organised it. The purpose of the trip was to gain experience in the aviation industry, specifically air traffic control, using a simulator. We were shown how there simulators work and we were shown how to use them as well as being able to communicate using the aviation alphabet. We met people who worked there, learning how to become an air traffic controller. We used there main sim that used 4 big TVs to show a graphically simulated view of a run way from the view of a tower. We also communicated with headsets to simulate how real air traffic controllers communicate to pilots.
